The study visit also shone a spotlight on another key project, the Reuil-Malmaison RER station, which handles 50,000 passengers a day. Here, the ’Mobipôle’ redevelopment initiative was first launched in 2012 for a cost of 25 million euros (excluding architects’ fees etc.). Still under way, the goal of Mobipôle is to “reorganise the site in its entirety to create a new-generation station which offers a full range of services and activities”, according to a city council presentation document. To achieve this goal, several ’intermodal’ measures have been implemented, including new pedestrian paths, new cycle lanes, a 450-space parking area for bikes, an underground parking facility for 325 cars and a bus station with nine bus lines.
